Since launching in 2012, Checkout.com has become one of the world’s leading global digital payments companies. It processes billions of transactions annually for thousands of commerce and fintech companies, helping to improve their payments performance.
In 2025, Checkout.com processed more than $300 billion in ecommerce payments volume.
Our longstanding partnership with Checkout.com brings its payments capabilities to merchants on Primer. And more recently, Checkout.com became one of the first payment companies to take advantage of Primer for Partners.
Primer for Partners is a new way for payment companies like Checkout.com to build, manage, and evolve their integrations directly in Primer. It gives partners greater control over their roadmap, a new route to distribute their full suite of capabilities to our merchant network, and clearer visibility into how those capabilities perform.
For Checkout.com, that means responding faster to merchant demand and bringing new payment services to market on its own timeline, so shared merchants can access the capabilities they need, when they need them.
Connected, configured and live
Checkout.com and Primer already had a strong, established integration used by many of our shared customers.
But, as Matthieu Barral, Global Head of Partnerships at Checkout.com, explains, "The traditional model worked well, but as partnerships grow, there are always trade-offs. Every time we wanted to make a new Checkout.com capability available through Primer, or any other third-party, it required coordination across different teams, roadmaps, and priorities. So the pace of rollout was ultimately tied to Primer’s engineering roadmap, not ours. We saw instantly that Primer for Partners removes those limitations entirely."
Asking a provider to build an integration could be a hard sell, especially if it required Checkout.com to deploy significant development resources. But Primer for Partners pioneered a new model: for the first time, payment providers can build and manage a working integration into Primer through a no-code builder, rather than a traditional reverse API, getting live in as little as five minutes.
"The ROI was very clear," adds Matthieu. "The ability to build and manage our own integration in a no-code tool, without relying on external engineering cycles, made the opportunity a no-brainer."

Faster for partners, better for merchants
Checkout.com is already benefiting from ownership over its integration, making new services available to merchants and finding opportunities to boost performance.
Expanding their European reach
Since going live on Primer for Partners, Checkout.com made TWINT, Switzerland’s leading mobile payment method, available to merchants through Primer. Maisons du Monde is already using it to support its growth in the Swiss market. iDEAL, Vipps, MobilePay, and Bancontact swiftly followed.
“As it's a genuinely self-serve solution, our team can go into the Primer for Partners portal, configure the APM, test it and push it live," says Matthieu. "We can manage that process ourselves rather than opening engineering tickets or waiting for another team's roadmap. We control it end-to-end."
Acceptance rate improvements across markets
Primer for Partners also gives Checkout.com clearer visibility into the performance of its payment capabilities, helping the team make data-led decisions and continuously improve outcomes for merchants.
For example, Ferryhopper, Europe's leading ferry ticketing platform, and a joint Checkout and Primer customer increased acceptance rates for cards issued in France and Germany from 85% to 91% through payment optimization.
What this means for the payments industry
Primer for Partners fundamentally transforms how payments companies like Checkout.com work with Primer, creating more value for both our partners and the merchants we share.
According to Matthieu, this is "really just the beginning". Primer for Partners grants his team complete ownership over their roadmap, but being able to evolve as their products and merchants’ needs evolve is the real benefit that drives their success, making Primer an even more critical partner for Checkout.com.
And for Lara Rosquët, Global Head of Partnerships at Primer, what's live today is a foundation to build on: the value Checkout.com is unlocking on Primer for Partners today is a starting point, not the finish line. "We're committed to enriching what partners can do on the platform; more capabilities to offer, better tools, deeper support to help them perform, so that building with Primer keeps delivering more for them over time."
When Checkout.com’s merchants win, they win. And when our partners win, so do we.
